Will Fiat and Volkswagen replace French automakers?

The conditional import of French cars, which was recently announced by the Ministry of Industry, is at a time when automobile industry experts believe that due to the 30-year history of Peugeot production in Iran and the possibility of the need for manufactured car parts, it is not possible to stop cooperation with this country, but at the same time, some German and Italian cars can be replaced by French cars.
Khodrocar - The spokesperson of the Ministry of Industry announced the ban on the import of French cars until the compensation of the damage caused to the automobile industry and emphasized that due to the damage caused to the automobile industry due to the sudden departure of the French, in the new round of liberalization of the import of these cars into the country on the condition of compensation It will be from the French. It seems that this ban has political reasons, because not only was there no restriction on the import of these cars before, but the possibility of cooperating with these companies was also heard. Now, experts in the automobile industry believe that there is no sudden and sudden termination of this cooperation due to the many years of production of these cars in the country, because the cars produced need parts anyway. In this situation, the question arises as to which European car manufacturer has the conditions to be present in the Iranian market.

"Currently, there are Korean, Chinese and Japanese alternatives to the French cars that were imported into the country before, and it is possible to import them, but among Europeans, due to the lack of previous experience, it is not possible to give a definite opinion about this.” Saeed Madani, former manager of SAIPA told khodrocar reporter.

"Certainly, buying from Europeans due to sanctions should be done through intermediaries in the countries of the region such as Armenia and the UAE, and there is certainly an alternative to French cars, but the terms of cooperation will be different.” He added.

"The new reaction of the officials of the Ministry of Industry is to cut off the import of French cars, while in the last 30 years, French cars such as Peugeot and Citroen have been imported or produced in the country, and without a doubt, many of them need spare parts after a while. Imported has become several million vehicles.” He continued.

Madani continues: Out of the 50,000 imported cars, maybe 10,000 cars belong to France, but still, this connection cannot be cut off because the cars produced in the past need parts and services.

"In the meantime, the Chinese have always declared their readiness, but in general, the ban on French CBU cars will not solve the problem. Meanwhile, the Iranian car industry has been dependent on the French car industry since the past and this dependence is still ongoing.” He said.

Madani says: the number of expected imported cars is limited and the car manufacturers as a part of the importer are looking to import CBU and then internalize those cars, in contrast to the traders who have no problem importing and are even able to import limited routes. Others are middlemen, while many Korean and Japanese cars imported to Iran are also imported through traders, and there is no direct cooperation with the parent companies, but definitely if the political problems are not resolved, there will be no The European company will not be willing to cooperate with Iran and cars enter the country through intermediaries.

Referring to the requirement of the Ministry of Industry that the importing companies have representation from the parent companies, this automobile industry expert states: In this situation, the importers should look for cars that have already existed in the country and are able to provide representation because there are service infrastructures in the country, but in the case of importing new cars, we will see a possible problem in the supply of parts.
